1929 Buick 6 Roadster - Model 44 2-Door Convertible Roadster with Rumble seat and lay down windshield. Body by Fisher. Serial #: 2217242. Series 121: Six cylinders. 3.626 by 5. 309.6 cubic inches. Rated 31.4 HP. Wheelbase 120 ¾ inches.
The Model 44 Four-passenger Roadster was the most affordable of the Series 121, at $1325. The cars of 1929 were known promotionally as the "Silver Anniversary" Buicks.
The life of Buick automobiles started in 1903 from the hands of David Dunbar Buick, inventor of a process that applied porcelain to cast iron for bath tubs. It's believed that he was already toying with the idea of making cars in 1899, when a prototype may have been built. It wasn't until Buick Engineer Eugene Richards created the first valve-in-head engine in America that Buick became a name in the automotive industry. Still, business was tough, so David looked for a financial ally in Billy Durant. When General Motors absorbed Buick in 1908, Durant became the head of Buick Motors, while Buick himself was ousted from the company.

1937 Delahaye Type 135 Competition Court Figoni et Falaschi Geo Ham no. 6
It took a man with a vision to turn a car in pieces into the winner of the 50th Pebble Beach Best of Show. Many hours went into restoring it as close to original, and at the end it was worth it.

There were eleven cars total built by Figoni et Falaschi with the design of artist Geo Ham. Vehicles 6 to 11 still exist, but only number 6, featured here, and Malcolm Pray's number 7 are short wheelbase models. The first five, including one with a sedan body, have disappeared.

1953 Delahaye 235 Coupe Chapron Chassis Type 96 Engine no. 818075.
La Vie en Bleu et Créme
We have no certainty that La Mome Piaf (the little sparrow) ever owned one of these Delahaye. Two of her automobiles are still known to exist: a Packard and a Renault Frégate, despite the fact that she suffered four automobile accidents. Still, we can imagine her at the wheel of this Delahaye; or at least we can listen to the shadow of her throaty voice coming from its radio.

Imagine buying a Ferrari, sight unseen, and driving it across the US, only to find out later that the beautiful classic you now own was the personal vehicle of Enzo Ferrari in 1961. You might as well have hit the lottery.

1963 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Coupe and 1964 Convertible.
A SHARK TALE
The story of these two cars goes back to the birth of the first Corvette in 1953, when an engineer by the name of Zora Arkus-Duntov saw the new 'dream car' for the first time. He would end up revolutionizing this car forever, and making a dream come true for many.
test the newest 600hp Viper against the 505hp Vette; two very different American beasts side by side.

Not Your Father's Buick. For a short time Americans had a chance to buy an Italian sports car at a Buick dealership.
It was the dream-come-true of engineer Milt Brown, who managed to start a car company with little capital and create a following that continues to this day.

Cinderella of the Sixties.
Being beautiful wasn't enough. She was a second-year engineering student at the University of California at Berkeley, to prove that brains were more important. From a family dominated by a strict stepmother, she'd escaped to the University only by her exceptional grades, and the fact that she obtained a certain substantial scholarship. Other than that, though, she was scraping by on a job as a waitress at a beat club over in Ocean Beach. It was 1964; the Beatles held the top four hits, and John Kennedy had been shot mere months earlier. The Gulf of Tonkin Incident was escalating the Vietnam War to new levels. Mary Quant had just presented a scandal to rock the world: the miniskirt; and the Beach Boys were preaching hot rods and the surf lifestyle to a world thirsty for California beaches. But Cindy didn't have time for the beach.

"Yipao" is how Colombians call a "loaded Jeep". The cars were brought here in the thousands after WWII; they can carry over a ton of stuff, an art born out of necessity, as Colombia doesn't have many paved roads.
The Willys is woven into the modern Andean culture to the point that Yipao is a unit of measure, such as "one Yipao of bananas" (40-45 bunches). The Yipaos are also hired for moving families and all their belongings (in one trip), and are used for public transportation.
What can you do with a Jeep besides load it incredibly full of everything imaginable? Tricks, of course. Teach it to drive solo or spin around on two wheels.
To celebrate their love for the Yipao, the town of Armenia started a parade 20 years ago. Almost 100 vehicles participated in this year's desfile. The loaded chariots are even more impressive when you realize that they aren't just for show, but are part of the daily lives of the people in the coffee growing region of Quindio.
